PGC 48609 (= ESO 509-98)
A 14th-magnitude spiral galaxy (type (R')SB(s)a) in
Hydra (RA 13 43 21.8, Dec -25 55 56)

Based on a recessional velocity of 8000 km/sec, PGC 48609 is about 370 million light years away. Given that and its apparent size of 1.1 by 0.9 arcmin, it is about 120 thousand light years across. Used by the de Vaucouleurs Atlas of Galaxy Types as an example of galaxy type (R')SA(rl)a.
