I know it would be hard for the girls who turned me down at high school dances to believe, but once I grew a foot or so taller and had time for something other than studying, I became an avid ballroom dancer. I met my wife while I was teaching and competing in ballroom dancing in the mid to late 1970's, and although Sheri had never danced competitively we took second place at the Star Ball after only four weeks of practice. Our early competitions were in smooth and Latin dances — fox trot, waltz, tango and rumba — but we also enjoyed swing dancing. The picture above was taken at a swing dance competition at the Hacienda Hotel in Las Vegas. |
